The Dark Knight directed by Christopher Nolan

Review by Danny Ho, 11

The movie I am reviewing is, in my opinion, one of the greatest superhero movies ever created. The Dark Knight, the second installment in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, showcased a mix of flawless production, amazing writing, and unforgettable performances. The movie consisted of a star-studded cast, with Christian Bale reprising his lead role as Batman, Heath Ledger as Joker, and many more. The movie picks up where the first installment of the trilogy ends on, following the wealthy playboy who leads a double life as the protector of Gotham City, Batman. Gotham City is faced with a new villain named the Joker, whose mission is to wreak havoc and create chaos. A new character takes the stage, Gotham's district attorney Harvey Dent, who does whatever it takes to rid the city of crime and violence. However, Dent falls victim to the Joker, and transforms into the villain Two-Face. One of the most impressive things about this film that made me love it so much was the performance by Heath Ledger. Throughout the film, the Joker is a master at pitting Batman against the city he vows to protect, which causes Batman to question his morality and willingness to don the black cape. Ledger played the role of the Joker almost to perfection, as he was unrecognizable in the makeup of the killer clown and his mannerisms felt so real and intense. Overall, I would have to rate the Dark Knight a 5 out of 5 stars. This film drew me in with it's beautiful story line, outstanding directing and production, and finally the breathtaking performances by the cast.
